History

The Carrera Soccer Club was conceived in 1993 and began officially in the 1994-1995 season with a single Under-13 team. The goal of the founding members was to create an organization totally committed to girls competitive soccer in Central Missouri. In Februrary, 1996, Carrera Soccer Club became the first all-girls soccer club in the Central District of the Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).

Carrera partnered with the St. Charles based WINGS girls program.  Carrera teams  were competing in the St. Louis Youth Soccer Association (SLYSA). 50 Carrera players competed in the 1999 WINGS St. Louis Friendship Cup Tournament: 2 full teams (U17 and U14) and the remainder were combined with WINGS players to create tournament teams. The Tournament field included 3 state champions and Michigan Hawks, Omaha Gladiators, Busch, Colorado Rush, United Quest(Atlanta) and Memphis Fury.   That same year, the Carrera U17 team was a finalist in the Missouri Snickers State Cup competition.

Carrera teams have competed throughout the Midwest, from Minnesota to Texas.  Our Elite squad has been a frequent participant in the prestigious College Search Kickoff in Muscatine Iowa.  More than 70 Carrera Alumni have continued their soccer careers at the collegiate level.   In 2011, Carrera went International as Janelle Cordia (Carrera 86/87) signed a professional contract with Aland United in Finland.  Janelle is currently playing with Fortuna in Denmark.

The Carrera Soccer Club continues to grow the game in Central Missouri with our annual spring Carrera Academy for young female players ages 4-9.
